Buckets of Banners Review: Is BoB Worth Using?
If you’re building an online business, there is one problem you can’t escape:
You need people to see you.
You can have the right product.
You can have a good website.
You can have a great landing page.
You can even have a fantastic affiliate offer.
But if nobody sees it, you’re not going to get very far.
That’s why traffic and exposure are such a big part of online marketing.
And if you’re looking for another way to get your business in front of people, there’s an interesting platform you may want to know about:
Buckets of Banners — or BoB.
Unlike a conventional advertising platform where you simply pay for banner advertising, BoB uses a banner-exchange model that allows members to earn advertising impressions and use those impressions to promote their own banners.
And there’s an important twist.
You don’t even need to own a website to participate.
That makes Buckets of Banners quite different from many traditional banner exchanges.
So, is BoB worth using in 2026?
Let’s take a closer look.
What Is Buckets of Banners?
Buckets of Banners is a banner advertising and banner-exchange platform operated within the State-Of-The-Art-Sites network.
The concept is straightforward:
You participate in the network → earn banner impressions → use those impressions to display your own banners.
But BoB gives you several different ways to earn those impressions.
You can:
- Surf member pages
- Promote your Interactive Splash Page
- Place BoB’s banner code on your own website
- Earn a percentage of impressions generated by referrals
- Purchase banner impressions
- Convert qualifying commissions into advertising impressions
The important difference is that you don’t have to be a website owner to participate.
BoB specifically states that members can earn impressions by surfing its banner area and by promoting their Interactive Splash Page.
That makes it much more accessible to beginners.
Is Buckets of Banners Still Active?
Yes.
This is one of the first things I wanted to establish before recommending BoB.
There are plenty of old traffic exchanges and advertising platforms on the internet that technically still have a website but have very little meaningful activity.
BoB doesn’t appear to fall into that category.
At the time of writing, the BoB homepage is displaying approximately:
19,800 members
and approximately:
28 million banner views over the previous 30 days.
Those figures fluctuate as the platform updates, but they demonstrate that the system is still recording substantial banner activity.
More importantly, independent traffic-marketing ranking sites continue to list Buckets of Banners as an active advertising platform in 2026.
TEHoopla’s August 2026 rankings list BoB among its actively used free advertising services.
ProfitHoopla’s September 2026 rankings also include Buckets of Banners among its ranked profit-advertising services.
So this isn’t simply a case of discovering an old website that nobody uses anymore.
BoB is still operating.
How Does Buckets of Banners Work?
The easiest way to understand BoB is to think of it as a banner-exchange system with several ways of earning impressions.
Normally, a banner exchange works something like this:
You display somebody else’s banner on your website.
In return, you receive credits that allow your banner to be displayed elsewhere.
BoB takes that basic concept and adds several other ways to earn impressions.
According to BoB, there are three primary ways to earn impressions:
1. Promote your Interactive Splash Page
Free BoB members receive impressions at a 1:1 ratio.
Club BoB members receive impressions at a 3:1 ratio.
2. Surf the banner area
Free members receive 2 impressions for each qualifying page surfed.
Club BoB members receive 4 impressions.
3. Display the banner-exchange code
Free members receive 0.5 impressions for each banner display.
Club BoB members receive 1 impression.
That gives you considerably more flexibility than a conventional banner exchange.
You Don’t Need A Website
This is one of my favourite things about BoB.
Traditional banner exchanges can be awkward for beginners because you generally need a website where you can install the exchange code.
BoB doesn’t require that.
You can earn impressions simply by surfing the banner area.
You can also promote your Interactive Splash Page.
That means someone who is just getting started with online marketing can participate without first having to build a website.
BoB itself explicitly highlights this feature:
Even non-site owners can earn impressions and get their ads seen across the network.
That’s a significant advantage for beginners.
What Are Banner Impressions?
If you’ve never used an advertising exchange before, this is worth explaining.
An impression is essentially an opportunity for your banner to be displayed.
For example, if you have 10,000 banner impressions available and assign them to one of your advertisements, that banner can be displayed up to the number of impressions allocated to it, subject to the platform’s delivery system.
An impression is not the same thing as a click.
And a click is not the same thing as a lead.
And a lead isn’t necessarily a sale.
This distinction is important.
The purpose of BoB is to provide exposure.
Your job is to turn that exposure into action.
How Many Banners Can You Have?
This is another area where the free and upgraded memberships differ substantially.
Free BoB membership
You can have up to 5 banners.
Club BoB
You can have up to 30 banners.
Thirty banner slots gives you considerably more room to test different messages.
For example, you could have different banners promoting:
- Your main website
- A lead capture page
- Your affiliate offer
- Your YouTube channel
- A particular product
- A webinar
- A special promotion
- Your personal brand
That ability to rotate multiple messages is particularly useful if you’re testing what attracts the most attention.
The Free BoB Membership
One of the strongest reasons to try BoB is that you don’t have to pay to find out whether you like it.
The free membership gives you:
- Up to 5 banners
- 2 impressions per banner-page surf
- 1 impression per Interactive Splash Page display
- 0.5 impression per banner-code display
- 10% of the banner impressions generated by your direct referrals
- 10% commissions on qualifying referral purchases.
That’s enough to get started.
And that’s exactly what I would recommend doing.
Start free.
Learn the system.
Create your banners.
Get some impressions.
See how your advertising performs.
Then decide whether you want more.
What Is Club BoB?
Club BoB is the upgraded membership.
And this is where the economics become more interesting.
The current BoB information lists the following Club BoB benefits:
- Up to 30 banners
- 4 impressions per banner-page surf
- 3 impressions per Interactive Splash Page display
- 1 impression per banner-code display
- Interactive Splash Page click incentives
- Exclusive Interactive Splash Page placement
- Viral signup multi-rewards
- Club BoB Clique Lounge
- 20% of the impressions generated by direct referrals
- 50% cash commissions on referral purchases.
That’s a considerable upgrade over the free account.
And there is one benefit that particularly stands out.
50% referral commissions.
Free members receive 10%.
Club BoB members receive 50% on qualifying referral purchases.
So Club BoB isn’t simply about getting more banner impressions.
It is also designed to make the referral side of the business considerably more attractive.
Club BoB Costs $10 Per Month
The current BoB membership information lists Club BoB at:
$10 per month
for the monthly subscription.
There is also an annual option and a lifetime membership option.
The current page lists the lifetime Club BoB option at a discounted price of $265.50 one-time, together with bonus advertising benefits.
However, pricing can change, so I would always check the current upgrade page before purchasing.
And I would not recommend jumping straight into the lifetime option simply because it looks like better value.
Test the platform first.
The Club BoB Lifetime Option
The lifetime option is interesting because it changes the proposition from:
“Pay every month for access.”
to:
“Make one payment and retain the upgraded membership.”
The current offer includes:
- Lifetime Club BoB membership
- Up to 30 banners
- Higher impression ratios
- 50% direct referral commissions
- Referral impression bonuses
- Additional advertising exposure
- 1,000,000 BoB banner impressions
- A 30-day SOTAM Viral Banner Ad bonus.
The advertised value of the bonuses is substantially higher than the membership price.
But I would treat those advertised “values” as marketing valuations, not cash-equivalent savings.
The real question is:
Will you actually use the benefits?
If you will, the lifetime membership becomes much more interesting.
The Interesting Part: Club BoB Helps With Branding
This is something I think marketers underestimate.
Most people think banner advertising is about:
Click → sale.
But banners can also be used for recognition.
If someone repeatedly sees your:
- Name
- Face
- Website
- Logo
- Business
- Message
you can gradually become more familiar.
The State-Of-The-Art-Sites network itself has written extensively about banner advertising as a branding tool, describing a two-phase approach beginning with familiarity and repeated exposure.
That’s an important distinction.
You don’t necessarily need every impression to produce a click.
Sometimes the objective is:
“I want people to recognise me.”
That is particularly useful if you’re building a personal brand.
The Interactive Splash Page
The Interactive Splash Page is one of the more unusual features of BoB.
Rather than simply displaying your banner somewhere on a website, BoB gives members a dedicated promotional environment where member banners are displayed.
Club BoB members receive additional benefits in this area.
The platform also states that Club BoB banners can contain a signup incentive for new members.
The idea is clever:
Give the prospect an additional reason to interact with the advertisement.
That’s different from simply showing a static banner and hoping someone clicks it.
Can You Make Money With Buckets of Banners?
Potentially, yes.
But there are two separate opportunities here.
Opportunity #1: Use BoB To Promote Your Business
You earn impressions.
You use them to display your banners.
People see your advertisements.
Some click.
Some may become leads.
Some leads may eventually become customers.
This is the traditional advertising model.
Opportunity #2: Promote BoB Itself
This is where the platform becomes more interesting for affiliate marketers.
You can refer people to BoB.
Free members receive 10% commissions on qualifying referral purchases.
Club BoB members receive 50% commissions on qualifying direct-referral purchases.
Club BoB members can also receive a percentage of the banner impressions earned by their referrals.
The current structure gives Club BoB members:
- 20% of direct referral impressions
- Additional downstream impression percentages at deeper levels.
So you can potentially benefit in two ways:
Use BoB to advertise your business.
and:
Advertise BoB itself.
That’s an important distinction.
Is Buckets of Banners Legit?
Based on the evidence I found, I would regard BoB as an established operating advertising platform rather than a fake or abandoned website.
It has a long history.
Its current website is functioning.
It is reporting current member and banner-view activity.
Its terms identify the operator as Brathe LLC / StateOfTheArtSites and name Brad Webb as owner/operator.
There are also user reviews on LeadsLeap.
The available reviews are predominantly positive, although the review sample is small and the latest listed reviews date from 2023, so I would not treat them as statistically representative of all current users.
That’s an important qualification.
I would say:
BoB appears to be a legitimate, functioning advertising platform.
I would not say:
BoB guarantees that you will make money.
Those are two very different statements.
What About The Traffic Quality?
This is where you need to be realistic.
Banner-exchange traffic is not the same thing as highly targeted search traffic.
Someone seeing your banner while surfing a banner exchange may have very little buying intent.
They may simply be participating because they want to earn impressions for their own advertising.
Therefore:
Don’t judge BoB purely by impressions.
Track:
Impressions → Clicks → Leads → Sales
That’s the real measurement.
If you get 100,000 impressions and no clicks, you have a banner problem.
If you get plenty of clicks but no leads, you have a landing-page problem.
If you get leads but no sales, you may have an offer or follow-up problem.
That’s why I would use BoB primarily as an exposure and traffic-generation tool, rather than expecting the platform itself to do the selling.
What Do Existing Users Say?
The independent reviews I found are generally positive.
LeadsLeap currently shows five reviews with an overall 5/5 rating, although the review sample is small and the latest review listed is from December 2023.
One reviewer highlighted the simplicity of creating banners and reported receiving daily hits and some customers.
Another said they used BoB daily and received more clicks than from other banner sites.
Other reviewers specifically praised the Club BoB features, including the higher commissions and additional advertising exposure.
But again, these are user testimonials, not controlled independent testing.
So I would use them as supporting evidence—not proof of guaranteed results.
One Thing I Particularly Like About BoB
For me, it’s the fact that you can earn advertising exposure without having your own website.
That’s a genuine beginner-friendly feature.
Imagine you’re just starting online.
You don’t yet have:
- A website
- A large email list
- Thousands of social followers
- A large advertising budget
You can still participate.
You can surf.
You can earn impressions.
You can create banners.
And you can start putting your offer in front of other members.
That lowers the barrier to entry considerably.
Another Thing I Like: You Can Turn Activity Into Advertising
This is the clever part.
Instead of thinking:
“I have to spend money every time I want advertising.”
you can think:
“I can participate in the system and build advertising credits.”
That doesn’t make the advertising free in an economic sense—you are exchanging your time and activity for exposure—but it gives you an alternative to simply paying cash for every impression.
And if you are already spending time promoting your online business, that’s an interesting trade-off.
The Biggest Weakness
The biggest weakness is also obvious:
Banner impressions are not customers.
The current BoB site reports tens of millions of banner views, which is impressive from an exposure perspective.
But millions of impressions don’t automatically mean millions of interested prospects.
That’s why your creative matters.
A boring banner will probably be ignored.
A confusing banner will be ignored.
A banner trying to explain everything will probably be ignored.
Your banner needs one simple objective:
Get the click.
Then your landing page does the next job.
How I Would Use Buckets of Banners
I wouldn’t use BoB by creating 30 random banners and hoping something happens.
I’d build a small testing system.
Banner #1
Problem-focused headline.
Banner #2
Curiosity-based headline.
Banner #3
Benefit-focused headline.
Banner #4
Personal-brand banner.
Banner #5
Direct offer.
Then I’d monitor which ones receive the most clicks.
Once I know which message works, I’d give that banner more impressions.
That’s how you turn a banner exchange into an actual marketing experiment.
What Should You Promote?
This is where BoB can fit nicely into an affiliate marketing strategy.
You could promote:
- Your website
- A lead magnet
- Your email list
- A YouTube channel
- An affiliate offer
- A webinar
- A home-business opportunity
- A product review
- Your personal brand
But I would generally avoid sending cold banner traffic straight to a complicated sales page.
I’d rather use:
Banner → Landing Page → Lead → Follow-Up → Offer
That gives you considerably more control.
Buckets of Banners vs State Of The Art Mailer
This is an interesting comparison because the two platforms are closely connected.
SOTAM is primarily an email advertising platform with additional banner advertising features.
BoB is primarily a banner advertising/exchange platform.
So they complement each other.
You don’t necessarily have to choose between them.
You can use:
SOTAM
for email exposure and additional advertising.
BoB
for banner exposure and branding.
That gives you two different advertising mechanisms inside the same broader State-Of-The-Art-Sites ecosystem.
My SOTAM Recommendation
If you haven’t already looked at it, I recommend reading my full State Of The Art Mailer review as well.
SOTAM has been operating since 2010 and offers email advertising, banner advertising and several other promotional mechanisms.
If your main objective is building an email-based traffic strategy, SOTAM deserves a place on your shortlist.

Is Club BoB Worth It?
For a beginner, I’d say:
Start free.
There is no reason to rush.
Learn how BoB works.
Create some banners.
Earn some impressions.
See what sort of clicks and results you receive.
Then make the decision.
For an active marketer who intends to use BoB regularly, Club BoB becomes much more compelling.
Why?
Because you’re getting:
More banners
More impressions per activity
More exposure
Higher referral commissions
Additional referral benefits
The jump from 10% to 50% direct referral commissions is particularly significant if you intend to actively promote BoB.
My Buckets of Banners Rating
After looking at the current platform, its features, activity and available user feedback, here’s how I’d rate it.
Ease of use: 8/10
The basic concept is straightforward.
Free entry: 9/10
You can test the platform without paying.
Advertising flexibility: 9/10
There are several ways to earn and use impressions.
Branding potential: 9/10
Repeated banner exposure can be useful for personal and business branding.
Traffic quality: 6/10
Remember that banner-exchange traffic is generally not equivalent to high-intent search traffic.
Affiliate potential: 8/10
The 50% direct referral commission available to Club BoB members makes the referral side attractive.
Overall:
⭐ 8/10
Worth testing.
Who Should Try Buckets of Banners?
I’d particularly recommend BoB to:
Affiliate marketers
You need inexpensive ways to generate exposure.
Beginners
You can participate without owning a website.
Personal-brand marketers
Repeated banner exposure can help build familiarity.
Network marketers
You can advertise your opportunity and build referrals.
People building multiple income streams
BoB can become another component of a broader traffic strategy.
Who Shouldn’t Use It?
I wouldn’t recommend BoB if you’re expecting:
- Guaranteed sales
- Guaranteed leads
- Instant income
- Passive income without doing anything
- Every impression to become a customer
That’s not what banner advertising does.
BoB provides the opportunity for exposure.
Your marketing has to convert that exposure.
The Bottom Line
So, is Buckets of Banners worth using in 2026?
Yes—I think it is worth testing.
The reason isn’t that BoB promises some magical source of traffic.
It doesn’t.
The reason is that it provides something every online marketer needs:
Exposure.
And it gives you multiple ways to earn that exposure rather than requiring you to simply buy it.
You can surf.
You can promote your Interactive Splash Page.
You can display the exchange on your website.
You can earn from referrals.
You can purchase impressions.
And if you upgrade to Club BoB, you get substantially higher impression earning rates, more advertising slots and a much stronger referral commission structure.
The fact that the platform is still reporting approximately 19,800 members and tens of millions of banner views per month also tells me that there is still activity within the network.
Would I make BoB my only traffic source?
No.
Would I add it to a wider online marketing strategy?
Absolutely.
And This Is The Bigger Point…
Traffic should never be your entire business strategy.
You need:
Traffic
↓
Leads
↓
Follow-up
↓
Offers
↓
Commissions
That’s why I’m interested in tools like Buckets of Banners.
It can potentially help with the traffic and exposure part of the equation.
