How To Choose A Good Network Marketing Mentor

In this post I discuss How To Choose A Good Network Marketing Mentor

First, what is a Network Marketing Mentor and do I need one?

A Network Marketing Mentor’s job is to make your Network Marketing journey as quick and as painless as possible.

The first step in choosing a good Network Marketing Mentor is to know what your business goals are.

Second, you need to reflect and identify your current situation. These questions might help:

  • Where are you now in terms of achievement?
  • Is it where you want to be (see goals above)?
  • What resources are available to you that you can actively work with?

Resources may be time, money, manpower, knowledge, experience etc. In other words, what are you going to use to get to where you want.

Third, you need to identify a path that will take you from where you currently are to where you want to be. In other words, how are you going to get there?

Fourth, what might you need specific help with?

Here are the initial REFLECTION steps:

  1. What is my goal?
  2. What am I going to do to get there?
  3. How am I going to get there?
  4. What do I need specific help with?

You may already have some or all of the answers to these questions. If you don’t you may need a Mentor to help you find the answers.

Another way to think of this is as if it was a journey. You are going to start at point ‘A’ and travel through ‘B’ to get to point ‘C’.

Your Mentor’s job is to help you clarify points A and C and identify a clear path B.

So now you can see that a Mentors job is to make your journey as quick and as painless as possible.

What are the qualities to look for  in a good Mentor?

A good Mentor must have experience in Network Marketing.

A good Mentor must know your goals.

They must know your resources and capabilities.

They must know how you plan to achieve your goals.

They must assess your progress regularly.

A good Mentor gives regular feedback: They are both honest and direct.

They must be both encouraging and supportive.

An effective mentor sets good examples. They are willing to show how it’s done.

What else do I need to know about good Mentors?

Note that sometimes good effective mentors may be active in a different company to yours or they may be active in an entirely different industry altogether.

Many people view experts in their field as Mentors in the absence of an actual personal relationship. For example, Network Marketing Trainers and Authors may be seen by many as good Mentors.

Remember that your Network Marketing Sponsor is also a very good candidate too.
